Terms and conditions

The short version: everything on this site is entered by the people who use it, you are responsible for what you enter, and we are not responsible for that information or for how anyone fills it in. The long version follows.

1. What this site is

The Human Union ("we", "us") runs thehumanunion.work, a platform that connects skilled workers with employers and agencies who need them, records what people can do on a passport, and lets people refer others.

By using the site, creating an account, or filling in any form on it, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. The information on this site is entered by its users

Passports, references, certifications, trades, availability, briefs, referrals and every other detail on the site are entered by the people and organisations who use it. We do not write them, and we cannot check every one of them.

You are responsible for everything you enter. It must be true, complete and yours to share, and you must keep it up to date. That includes the certificates and cards you upload, the references you name, and the details of anyone you refer.

We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or currency of any information on the site, for how anyone fills a form in, or for what anyone else does with information you choose to enter.

3. What we check, and what we do not

We may contact a reference, look at an uploaded certificate, or ask you for more before any introduction. We do this to help, not as a guarantee. A tick, a badge or a "verified" mark on the site means we did what we say next to it, and no more.

Employers and agencies must do their own checks before hiring anyone, including right to work, qualifications, insurance and anything a site or a role requires. Workers must satisfy themselves about any employer, agency or job before accepting it.

4. Pay figures, rates and examples

Any pay, day rate or earnings shown on the site is a typical range or a worked example. It is not an offer, a promise or a quote. Every job is agreed on its own terms, in writing, before it starts.

Referral payments, where offered, are paid only under the referral terms agreed with you at the time, only for people placed through us, and only for as long as those terms say.

5. Your account

Keep your sign-in details and the links we email you to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think somebody else has used it.

You may only use the site for its purpose: to find work, to find people, or to refer people you would vouch for. Do not enter information about anyone without their agreement, and do not enter anything false, misleading or unlawful.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used dishonestly.

6. Our liability

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, free of errors, or suitable for a particular purpose, and we do not promise anyone a job, a worker, a rate or a placement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from information entered on the site by its users, from reliance on that information, from a decision to hire or to take a job, or from the site being unavailable or containing errors.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

7. Your data

We hold the details you give us so we can run the site and introduce people to work. We share a worker's passport with employers and agencies only as the site describes: first name, surname initial, availability, trades, certificates and references, once a reference is on it.

You can see and change your own details on your passport, and you can ask us to close your account and remove your data by emailing us.

8. Changes and contact

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and using the site after a change means you accept it.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
